PFW: Carven AW 2012
“It’s clean, half a white cube and half a church, again it’s about contrasts,” said the designer of the setting backstage after the show, sporting a plain white T-shirt with his initials embroidered on. “Just so they know it’s me,” he laughed modestly.
It was an apt setting and translated into the prints and shapes of the silhouettes - the former inspired by medieval paintings and the latter formed by beautiful laser-cut skirts that mimicked the shapes of stained glass windows within them.
To Electrelane’s The Valleys, the girls came out all lightly tousled hair and that naïve Carven charm about them. “It can only be about pleasure,” said Henry of designing for her. “It’s playful, but not that strict. She has to be elegant and she can’t be too girly. It’s about contrasts.”
